Saturday night a US soldier who is a Muslim "fragged" - tossed grenades into the tent - of the officer in command of Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait. Why did this happen? It happened because the plain text - the exact words - of Koran command all Muslims to "make war on unbelievers and deal rigorously with them." He isn't the first soldier to launch a private jihad - John Allen Muhammad, the DC sniper, was also a Muslim and a former U.S. soldier. We have a real problem. Jihad is NOT a doctrine that contradicts or perverts Koran. Jihad is commanded and rationalized over and over in dozens if not hundreds of verses in Koran for all Muslims. We are being told that the only Muslims who believe in Jihad are Wahhabists. This is not true. What is Wahhabism? It is a denomination within Sunni Muslims - like Methodism is a denomination among Protestant Christianity. The name Wahhabi comes from the name of a man who died three years after the U.S. Constitution was ratified - who died in 1792 - who was a Muslim Imam. He called his followers to obey the actual language of Koran. But his doctrine was not new, he himself was simply a popular preacher of what was then called the Hanbali school of Islam, which also taught that Muslims should obey the Koran. Wahhabism is associated with Saudi Arabia because in 1792 a man named Muhammad bin Suud - a follower of Muhammad bin Abd al-Wahhab - revolted against the Muslim Ottoman Empire, claiming as his justification that the Ottoman Sultan did not follow the strict language of Koran. Suud won his revolution and established his own kingdon which we now call Saudi Arabia. But Wahhabi Muslims from Saudi Arabia are not the only Muslims who engage in Jihad. Hezbollah, which throughout the 1980s was considered the most dangerous terrorist organization, was founded and is funded and run by the government of Iran. Iranians are not Wahhabis, they are not even Sunnis, they are Shiite Muslims. Sunnis and Shiites are two sects within Islam, but there are over 75 recognized sects in Islam, and there are additional sects that are not recognized because they are considered apostate by Muslims who belong to the recognized sects. The point is that ANY Muslim is potentially a terrorist because killing non-Muslims is commanded by Koran. But we have a big problem because neither US politicians nor our news organizations can tell us the truth. At this moment in history, Islam - like Protestant Christianity - has no central hierarchy that can enforce one set of orthodox beliefs. As a result, control over what a Muslim should believe is presently exercised by the politicians who run Muslim countries. These politicians know that progress and prosperity for their people - and the stability of their own regimes - depends on suppressing the full teachings of Koran. Consequently, according to the State Dept.'s report on religious freedom, every Muslim country exercises some degree of control over religious education, religious publishing, and sermons in their mosques. They cannot allow free speech, because free speech would allow the fundamentalist to tell the people what Koran actually says. The exception, of course, is Khomeini's Iran, and we know the result. Our politicians and our press cannot rock this boat by telling us the truth about what Koran teaches. Our politicians need the cooperation of Muslim countries, and so do the large media organizations. And they have the additional constraint of a growing population of Muslims within the United States. Because Koran contradicts the natural law that God has written on our hearts, many Muslims in the West try to deny the teachings of Koran, but their wishful thinking does not change what Koran actually says. And those Muslims in the West who do believe Koran have freedom of speech to teach and recruit others. Do you see the problem? Our leaders can't tell us the truth about Islam, but the fundamentalist are free to spread the teachings of Koran throughout our society. The fragging incident shows they are successfully reaching even soldiers in our military. Folks, we have a big problem! What can we do? First, you must learn what Koran actually teaches for yourself. When most Americans know the truth about Islam, our politicians and our press will not be able to keep up the subterfuge that Islam is peaceful. Some who call themselves Muslims are peaceful, but Islam as taught by its scripture is violent and hateful. If you don't have time to read Koran, or you want to be a patriot and alert others, you can downlaod a free copy of our pamphlet "Why Allah Can't Fight for Himself." The pamphlet explains actual verses from Koran in context to show that Koran does teach hatred and killing of non-Muslims. The pamphlet comes with a license to make as many copies as you want and distribute them. Or just send us an email with your snail mail address and I'll send you some free hardcopies of the "Why Allah Can't Fight for Himself". Second, the only way to overcome fundamentalists' belief that the only sure way to go to heaven is to die in jihad is to replace that idea with a better one - that Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins and the true way to Heaven - the only way to Heaven - is to accept Him as Lord and Savior. To do this, you must have a faith you can share. Everbody, Christian or not, needs to know the truth about Islam. It IS that important. |
