You Can Be as Great as Ronald Reagan!

With President Reagan's death occurring so close in time to the 60th anniversary of D-Day, I think there is a mistconception among Americans that Reagan's fundamental principles - his faith, his belief in markets, individual initiative, and personal accountability - reflect the values of the so-called "Greatest Generation" that fought World War II.

This is hogwash. I have always been suspicious of the term "Greatest Generation" just because it was coined by Tom Brokaw. The only person who ever started a conversation with me by bashing Reagan was a man who was born in the 1920s.

The truth is that President Reagan stands for the values of America's founding generation, which were steadily being lost throughout most of the 20th century.

The "Greatest Generation" may have fought World War II, but they raised the baby-boom generation who dragged us through the drug-induced stupor of the free-love 60s and are now the leaders of the America-hating Left. The parents of the "Greatest Generation" voted in FDR and stood by as he erected a socialist bureaucracy that grew out of control until President Reagan took office.

What really makes - and will always keep - Ronald Reagan a towering figure in the life of our nation is that by the strength of his personal faith in God he reminded us that a nation can only be free, prosperous, and happy if it follows God's moral rules.

A nation that destroys individual initiative by stealing property in order to redistribute it - a socialist state - can never be prosperous.

A nation whose citizens indulge themselves with promiscuity, drug use, and by racing to claim the title of "victim", can never be happy.

And a nation that ignores the most basic right of all human beings by aborting its children can never be truly free.

Ronald Reagan took us to school on America's founding principles, which as the Declaration of Independence states are "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God".

Every individual who lives and teaches these ideas achieves greatness, And that is Ronald Reagan's - who never sought his own glory - final lesson for Americans.
