Dear Elected Representative:

Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney warned recently that to keep America secure from Islamic terrorism state and local governments must begin to monitor the activities of Muslims in the United States. I fully agree with Gov. Romney and am calling on you to speak out in agreement with him and take action to implement his suggestions.

Some claim that because most Muslims do not engage in terrorism Islam is a peaceful religion. But to know what a religion truly teaches we must examine its authoritative documents. Koran and Hadith, the authoritative documents of Islam, explicitly command the use of violence against non-Muslims, Muslims who convert to non-Muslim relgions, and Muslims who become "apostate" by failing to follow all the teachings of Koran. This fact is confirmed beyond question to anyone who reads Koran and Hadith or examines the 1400 year history of Islam since Muhammad announced the doctrine of Jihad in 623.

The guardians of political correctness and some Muslim groups claim Gov. Romney's warning violates America's values. But is it posible that Islam, an ideology that commands its followers to enslave or kill people who reject it, can be said to agree with America's values simply because its followers hold it as their religion? In fact, federal law - 18 U.S.C. s. 241 - brands such an ideology as a criminal conspiracy.

While most Muslims do not act on Koran's violent teachings we have only to look at the London bombings, carried out by second generation British citizens, to see there is an ever-present danger so-called "peaceful" Muslims may, at any moment, embrace the true teachings of Islam and become violent.

The principles that are America's true values and which have made our nation great are the moral principles don't murder, don't commit adultery, don't steal, don't lie, and don't covet. It is these "laws of Nature and of Nature's God" - as the Declaration of Independence calls them - that make it possible for men to live together in peace, and they are shared by two religions, Judaism and Christianity.

Religious liberty and toleration are, indeed, fundamental American values. But they are only possible when people follow the moral principles that create peace. When an ideology like Islam commands its followers to violate these principles in the name of religion we must realize that not only our liberty but also our very lives are in danger.
